He has a B.Com from Sherubtse College, Kanglung. Starting his career as an assistant finance officer with BDFC in March 1990, he was deputed to Ministry of Trade and Industry for two years. He returned to his parent organization to become the industrial project officer before he was fielded to become a consultant to Handicraft Development Corporation under WWF funding to help small and cottage rural-based handicraft industries. He became the deputy manager heading industrial section with BNB and progressively became the manager heading the credit division. He retired from BNB as the deputy General Manager.
