He obtained a BCom from Sherubtse College, Kanglung in 1991. Starting his career as a development officer in the Unit Trust of Bhutan which later became Bhutan National Bank, he has served in the banking and financial sector for sixteen years in various capacities including the manager for BNB Thimphu branch, deputy head of credit department, head of international banking department that he created in January 1997. He has been trained in the areas of public relations, product development, project financing and appraisal, and banking.
