Tshering Dolkar is PDP’s Candidate for Gelephu
The People’s Democratic Party has nominated Ms. Tshering Dolkar from Juprey, Bhur Gewog as its candidate from the Gelephu constituency in Sarpang Dzongkhag for the 2008 National Assembly elections.
Tshering Dolkar has a Masters in Counseling and Educational Foundation from the University of New Brunswick, Canada, and University of Phoenix,
Tshering Dolkar started her career as a teacher in Drukgyel High School in Paro. Following which, she worked in various positions in the Department of Youth and Sports of the Ministry of Education including her last post as Chief of the Career Education and Counseling Division. She also served a two-year special assignment in RENEW. Altogether, she served for fifteen years in the Royal Government.
With just twelve days of campaigning left and fourteen days to elections, Tshering has a challenging task ahead of her. Our Gelephu party supporters are, however, very optimistic about her prospects in view of the strong support the PDP continues to enjoy on the ground, and the excellent qualifications and experience she possesses.
Tshering’s nomination takes the total number of women candidates in the PDP to six. Still too low, but a good beginning.

Wishing you all the best. I hope you win even though you are starting so late.
As a woman, I really like the PDP. They have good women candidates and I feel they mean it when they say that women should participate in politics and take up leadership roles.
My prayers are with you.
Being a PDP supporter, I was worried for Gelephu but now I’m happy to learnt that Ms Tshering Dolker was nominated at least before last minute. Thank God.
My insight to Tshering Dolkar as a person:
A very determined person, who would head straight towards her goal, and not tolerate any nonsense along the way.
She has a big heart, enormous capacity of compassion and the genuine desire to help those who reached out to her.
Tshering is a direct person, in many ways. She does not waste time mincing her words. She focuses on issues, and always does what will produce the best outcome for the situations presented to her.
She does not spend her time patronizing people to further her career, for her it is a waste of time and energy that could be spent on doing her job better.
Her academic and field background has trained her to improve the lives of those who reach out to her, on grass root and policy levels.
When Tshering become a member of the National Assembly, she will be a great asset not only to her constituency but to the youth and women of Bhutan.
As a women, mother and aunt, to many children, I look forward to the day that Tshering Dolkar stands tall as a member of the National Assembly, representing the people of her constituency, and the youth and women of Bhutan.
