PDP Women Support Group Tour

The PDP Women’s Support Group met with over twenty seven thousand women of the eastern, central and western regions last month including Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Wangdue, Bumthang, Trongsa, Mongar, Lhuntse, Tashiyangtse, Tashigang, Haa, Samdrupjongkhar and Pema Gatshel

During the twenty six days tour the leader of the group Ashi Bida briefed the gathering on PDP’s strategies to address the problems related to women. According to the group the pressing issues raised by the women were poverty, teenage pregnancy, census problems for illegemate children and unemployment for youths. “To empower women to take an active and equal part in social, economic and political affairs is a mission of the party” said Ashi Bida. She added that, to endow our youth with requisite knowledge, skills, values and employment is in the hearts of every PDP workers.

The group included Aum Rinchen Choden, Aum Kinlay Lham, Aum Rinzyy Choden and Col. (Retd.) Kezang Choden and other women party volunteers.

The group will undertake the next leg of their tour to the southern region in mid February.
